I found this magical animal hidden away in the basement of the British Museum. From the country that is now Nigeria.
This is a very long video, but worth a look. What an amazing event! The building where Doreen Valiente lived shows how magic and wonder can be found in the most ordinary looking places. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pyic2vHpHIQ&feature=youtu.be

'The Silurian' series of books about King Arthur read like a front line report from fifth century Britain. More intense than Tristan & Isolde, my other favourite story from the myths of the past. Well, I say myth, but for me it's all true, as is 'The Silurian'. Arthur's greatest warrior, Bedwyr, the Fox, has the voice of a hero, but a hero with his own wild way of loving, romantic passion of a very adult kind. Not an Arthurian series that's suitable for children.
